Thank you for this post, I've been having so much trouble with all the 2022 year in review, all the 2023 goal setting, I feel like I'm just floating along and waiting for the good questions to coalesce.
This resonated: "No tally can account for myself this year, nor do I seem able to piece together a narrative to do so either. Can I write without settling on a narrative, or answers, or (god forbid) lessons to be learned and shared? Can I write, can I live, in the questions?"
I suppose I will always remember 2022 as the year I realized I was pregnant the same day my self-published essay collection about grieving my infertility came out. Other things happened, but maybe 2022 doesn't need any other metrics for me besides that one.
